According to the Spiritual Science Research Foundation, 96% of addictions are "primarily caused due to possession by either ghosts or our departed ancestors" with only 4% being due to physical and psychological factors. Well, that's that sorted then.
The full 'research' report is available online, and I have to say, the diagrams alone are worth the effort.
How can you call this science? Can we agree that this is just about feelings and how we have learned to mask the pains we feel and can not handle? To call this science is a huge manipulation of people that really can't think for themselves. At best addictions are feelings that we are unable to let go of from our past and may also include the living.
I think Vaughan posted this because it's humorous, not because it's credible science. :)

Seriously though, religious groups can be a great support for people trying to break an addiction. It's sad that they are trying to wrap their message in such pseudo-scientific lingo. sad, but hilarious!
Have a read on what they mean by spiritual research. Does make interesting reading. This is refreshingly a new way of looking at it.
